Pet Loss Grief Doesn’t Have an Expiration Date

I met someone at an event who saw one of my pet loss journals and immediately told me:

“I miss my dog.”

She told me how he died while she was away.

When I asked how long it had been, she said, “2003.”

She had been carrying that loss for 23 years.

Sometimes grief doesn’t need somebody to fix it.

Sometimes you just need somewhere safe to put the backpack down for a little while.
